Meet your Instructor, Mike Davis! Mike is a dedicated husband, father, and accomplished professional with a passion for craftsmanship and community. For 25 years, Mike has shared a wonderful life with his wife, Alyssa, and together they've raised four amazing children and are proud parents to two rescue dogs, making their home a lively one. With over two decades of experience in the trades, Mike has built a successful career grounded in his love for construction and service. As the owner of Davis Custom Contracting for 24 years, he has specialized in residential remodeling, building, and historical restoration. He also manages Davis Property Investments, a business he's overseen for 14 years. Mike is a Master Carpenter and Licensed Electrician, having trained through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and holds certifications as a State Certified Building Official and Fire Inspector. He has also served as Fire Marshall for the Richmond Fire Department, contributing to his strong reputation in both the trades and his community. Mike’s expertise extends beyond the job site—he’s passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of builders. As an Adjunct Faculty Member at Vincennes University and Ivy Tech Community College, and a high school building trades instructor, he has helped countless students learn valuable skills. He is also a State Licensed Instructor in both building trades and electrical instruction and has been an active SkillsUSA advisor. On top of all that, Mike is the voice of Centerville High School Girls Soccer, a role he’s proudly held for nine years. When he’s not building homes or teaching, Mike is a self-proclaimed WWII history enthusiast with a love for trivia and podcasts. His adventurous spirit has led him to some incredible experiences, including flying a WWII B-17 Bomber and even surviving a shark attack (yes, really!). An instrument-rated commercial pilot and insurance agent, Mike’s life is as dynamic as it is inspiring. Mike’s dedication to his family, his community, and his craft is evident in everything he does. Whether he’s constructing homes, sharing his knowledge with others, or embarking on his next adventure, he brings a unique energy and warmth to all that he does.

With over 30 years of experience in both residential construction and industrial machining, Paul Davis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to every project. He’s the owner and operator of Davis Property Investments, where he specializes in residential remodeling, restoration, and property management. As the custom designer and builder behind Davis Custom Homes, Paul has spent two decades helping clients design and build their dream homes with an eye for detail and quality craftsmanship. Outside of his work, Paul is a devoted family man, married for 33 years with two children and four grandchildren. He’s also passionate about mentoring the next generation of tradespeople as an advisor with SkillsUSA. Paul’s background is rooted in a strong foundation of technical skill, from earning his Journeyman certification as an industrial tool grinder to completing advanced studies in Construction Technology and Electricity at Ivy Tech Community College. His diverse expertise makes him a valuable asset for all your home-building and property needs. In his spare time, Paul is an avid classic movie and music history buff, enjoying the timeless art and culture of past eras. His dedication to excellence, both in his work and in his personal life, defines who he is and the level of commitment you can expect when working with him.
